Hou Hsiao-hsien Film Series Kickoff!

Thursday, March 19, 7 pm

With the partial retrospective of Taiwanese master filmmaker Hou Hsiao-hsien beginning at the Northwest Film Forum and the Grand Illusion, Scarecrow will be showing a few of the titles not in that program right here in our Screening Room. It all starts with THE BOYS FROM FENGKUEI on Thursday the 19th at 7pm, with a special introduction by local film critic and Asian film scholar Sean Gilman.

 

Reel Grrls Movie Night!

Friday, March 20, 5 pm

Join Reel Grrls in our Screening Room as they present Hayao Miyazaki's all-time animated classic PRINCESS MONONOKE! 

 

Also, Also Like Life: More of the films of Hou Hsiao-hsien!

March 30th and 31st, 6:30 pm

After the proper retrospective winds up at the Grand Illusion and Northwest Film Forum, we'll still be filling in some of the blanks here in our Screening Room. Hou's A CITY OF SADNESS runs on Monday the 30th at 6:30, and THE PUPPETMASTER plays on Tuesday the 31st at the same time. Remember, these are some incredibly tough-to-see films, and they aren't part of the actual retrospective, so you don't want to miss them here!
