Here's what's going on in the vicinity of Seattle's cinematic epicenter

Hi Everybody!

As we enter into prime movie viewing season (which is every day here at Scarecrow) here's an overview of what's happening around town. Some of you may even get Monday (thanks veterans!) so be sure to watch lots of stuff!

SCARECROW VIDEO SCREENING ROOM- As usual we've got loads of fun going on in our screening room. Admission is free (but you have to be 21 or over after 3pm) and we sell snacks, beer, coffee, tea and popcorn to accomodate your viewing needs.  

FRIDAY & SATURDAY: 8pm - Magic Crystal Check out this clip that hints at the crazieness contained within!  SUNDAY: 1pm You Can't Take It With You   MONDAY:The Lady Eve TUESDAY:7pmGeeksWhoDrinkTrivia!   Plus don't forget 2 for 1 Wednesday Rentals and this week's special 2 for 1 Westerns on Thursday!

Down the street at THE GRAND ILLUSION CINEMA is the new indie drama The Motel Life based on a novel by NW author Willy Vlautin and featuring an intriguing cast. Click here to watch the trailer. Then at 10pm on Friday & Saturday is the utterly insane Italian mindblower The Visitor.  The crazy cast includes legendary Hollywood director/actor John Huston (The Maltese Falcon; Treasure Of The Sierra Madre), Shelley Winters (Night Of The Hunter), Glenn Ford (Superman), Lance Henriksen (Aliens), Franco Nero (Django) and Sam Peckinpah(!). NORTHWEST FILM FORUM is hosting the UCLA Festival of Preservation with exciting restored 35mm prints every night! The titles are too numerous to list here but click on this link for more information. Also showing is Harry Dean Stanton: Partly Fiction a new documentary about the iconic character actor. Click this link for more information and to view the trailer. 

SIFF CINEMA UPTOWN is screening a handful of special repertory treats this week along side their regular features. The films in their Men Behaving Badly series include the following (click on the title for additional information): Five Easy Pieces, The Last Detail, The Last Picture Show, and Hard Times. Also showing is a special screening of Toxic Hot Seat with filmmakers in attendance and some weirdness from the Philippines Remington and the Curse of the Zombadings.

SUNDANCE CINEMAS is hosting 2013 Sundance Film Festival Short Films Program Tour with 8 short films for the price of one!

We're going to keep this post short but you probably already know it is the start of the winter blockbuster season. Opening this weekend is Thor: The Dark World Perhaps a screening of The Avengers or the first Thor movie is on your agenda? We've got those movies at Scarecrow! More highbrow entertainment includes Dallas Buyers Club , Great Expectations and How I Live Now.

Despite this brief post, as usual Seattle offers an abundance of cinematic delights so hopefully you'll have time to visit a cinema or two and be sure to stock up at Scarecrow Video for a rainy week of viewing pleasure.
