Mike and Sully are back in this prequel to Pixar's MONSTERS, INC. Before they were the top scarers at the power plant, our two heroes had a rocky road to friendship in college. This movie's a blast, with all the wit and charm of your average Pixar movie grafted onto a "Slobs vs. Snobs" college comedy.

Neil Jordan, director of THE CRYING GAME and INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE, returns to the bloodsucker genre with this horror-drama about a pair of lady fangers (Saoirse Ronan and Gemma Arterton) who may or may not be mother and daughter, as they travel the Irish coastline in search of refuge (and a bite to eat now and then).

Christopher Guest, the director behind THIS IS SPINAL TAP, WAITING FOR GUFFMAN and BEST IN SHOW (among many others) has taken his talents to HBO, where he came up with this adorable TV series. Chris O'Dowd (from BRIDESMAIDS and THE I.T. CROWD) plays Tom, who, after losing his job and his ladyfriend, becomes engrossed in mapping his geneology. He travels all over England and to the U.S. where he reveals all sorts of bizarre family facets. A slight story, to be sure, but no less hilarious for it.

And don't forget the new Scream Factory ALL-NIGHT HORROR MARATHON VOL. 2 (@ SALE), a 4-pack DVD containing old-school the old-school jams CELLAR DWELLER, THE DUNGEONMASTER, CONTAMINATION 7 and CATACOMBS. All that for the absurdly low $9.95! Cheep!

Other highlights this week include the vaguely MEN IN BLACK-ish R.I.P.D. (@ BLU SALE), starring Ryan Reynolds and Jeff Bridges as undead police officers, LA NOTTE (new from The Criterion Collection, @ BLU SALE), the middle entry in Italian master Michelangelo Antonioni's "Trilogy of Modernity and it's Discontents", René Clair's BEAUTY OF THE DEVIL (@ BLU SALE) a retelling of Faust, and finally last year's arthouse sensation from Portugal, TABU (@ SALE), a lyrical tribute to silent-era filmmaking the doubles as, you guessed it, an indictment of European colonialism. Sounds like fun (seriously it's actually pretty wonderful)! Here's a trailer:
