This week’s new release list is modestly sized list but robust with laugher, horror, 3D Blu-rays, and much more. Here’s the list:

BLU = Also available to rent on Blu-ray disc

3D BLU = Available for rent on lovely 3D Blu-ray, though you must have a 3D TV to experience the full glory

THIS IS THE END—Expect exceptionally crude and snort-provoking humor when Seth Rogen, Jay Baruchel, James Franco, Craig Robinson, Danny McBride and Jonah Hill face the apocalypse. The cameo-packed opening party scene has an impossible-to-forget turn by Michael Cera and Kevin Hart committing a major party foul by kicking Aziz Anzari down into Hell.  BLU  @  SALE

THE CROODS—A spirited caveteen is restless stuck inside with her ever-fearful father and the rest of the family. But when their cave is demolished by pesky plate tectonics, they embark on a grand adventure that forces some of them to literally evolve. Featuring the voices of Emma Stone, Ryan Reynolds, Catherine Keener, and Nicolas Cage.  3D BLU  BLU  @

EYE OF THE STORM—This fiendish, funny and moving family story stars Judy Davis and Geoffrey Rush as siblings tending to their ailing mother (Charlotte Rampling!), whose declining health has not diminished her ability to criticize. We have it on a PAL Code 2 DVD; ask us if you need assistance playing region-coded discs.

THE WIZARD OF OZ—Our beloved namesake has been released numerous times, but the new 75th Anniversary Edition includes a new 3D Blu-ray. I imagine this makes the flying monkeys scene even more creepy.  3D BLU  BLU  @  SALE
