New Releases for April 2

The last few weeks have been heavy on the heavy-hitting new releases. This week…well, not so much. Don't get me wrong, there are still lots of great films, especially in the UK import area, but now is also a good time to catch up with some of the recent titles you may have missed. Here’s the relatively tiny list of what’s super-new:

JOHN DIES AT THE END—Two slackers attempt to save the world from a hallucinogenic drug called Soy Sauce that otherworlders may be using to take over Earth in this sci-fi/horror/comedy based on the book by David Wong.  BLU  @  SALE


HEMINGWAY & GELLHORN— Philip Kaufman’s portrait of the passionate and tumultuous relationship between Ernest Hemingway (Clive Owen) and Martha Gellhorn (Nicole Kidman) follows them from a Key West bar to the Spanish Civil War and beyond.  BLU  SALE


HOW TO MAKE A BOOK WITH STEIDL—We at Scarecrow Video still believe in the power of physical media and have a deep appreciation for those still on board with actual things. This documentary examines how renown publisher Gerhard Steidl creates beautifully crafted books in an increasingly Kindle-dependent world.   @


GINGER & ROSA—Elle Fanning and Alice Engler are teenage best friends growing up and apart amongst the changing social landscape of early '60s Britain in this coming-of-age drama written and directed by Sally Potter (Orlando). It co-stars Christina Hendricks, Timothy Spall, Oliver Platt, and Annette Bening. We have it on a PAL Code 2 import DVD—ask us for assistance in playing such DVDs.
