New Releases for March 5

This week’s new releases are filled with inspiring, moving, and sweet (sometimes literally) stories--with a bit of horror, drama, and dysfunction to take the edge off. Here’s the list:

BLU = Also available to rent on Blu-ray disc

3D BLU = Available for rent on lovely 3D Blu-ray, though you must have a 3D TV to experience the full glory

@ = Available for sale in the store (but we can special order anything, see us for details)

SALE = Click this link to purchase select titles from our online store

THE INTOUCHABLES—A wealthy quadriplegic (François Cluzet) in need of a caregiver hires a Senegalese immigrant (Omar Sy) with an attitude and the two form a strong bond in this charming, feel-good story of second chances and unlikely friendship. The film was a massive hit in France and at SIFF 2012.  BLU  @  SALE

WRECK-IT RALPH—Ralph’s the villain in a Donkey Kong-esque video game who longs to shake off his bad guy image and be the hero. He travels the world of video games in search of glory in this Best Animated Feature Oscar nominee. Our colleague and animation enthusiast Bryan says in City Arts that “the story is fun, the jokes are clever, and the emotions seem sincere—so it’s enjoyable even if you only understand the Q*Bert and Pac-Man references.”  BLU  3D BLU  @  SALE

REGULAR SHOW: PARTY PACK—Slackers Mordecai and Rigby (a blue jay and a raccoon, respectively) are back for more silliness in what our colleague Spenser (in City Arts) calls “a highly entertaining and unbelievably imaginative” show suitable for all ages.   SALE

RED DAWN—The Wolverines have been rebooted! Chris Hemsworth leads a group of ragtag youngsters—including The Hunger Games’ Josh Hutcherson and The Immortals’ Isabel Lucas—on a mission to reclaim their home from an invading army. And is that our own DAN LEWIS in the trailer??  BLU  @

WAITING FOR LIGHTNING—The powerful, inspiring story of legendary skateboarder Danny Way and his quest to jump the Great Wall of China.  BLU  @
