New Releases for November 27

It’s another small-but-super bunch of new releases, with British imports, music documentaries, one of the best animated movies of the year, and more. Here’s the list:

BLU = Also available to rent on Blu-ray disc

3D BLU = Available for rent on lovely 3D Blu-ray, though you must have a 3D TV to experience the full glory.

@ = Available for sale in the store (but we can special order anything, see us for details.)

Our online store is nearing the end of its revamp--please email us at or give us a call at (206) 524-8554 if you need to buy something without setting foot in the store.

PARANORMAN—A quiet young man named Norman finds his often-misunderstood ability to speak to the dead is the only thing that can save his town from a zombie apocalypse. This sweet and sometimes scary story is great for kids and adults alike.  BLU  3D BLU  @

LAWLESS—Director John Hillcoat (The Road, The Proposition) and screenwriter Nick Cave (yes, that Nick Cave) present the real-life tale of bootlegging brothers in Prohibition-era Virginia. The all-star cast includes Shia LaBeouf, Tom Hardy, Jessica Chastain, Mia Wasikowska, Guy Pearce, and Gary Oldman.   BLU  @

DOWNTON ABBEY: SERIES 3—The imports are here! How will the house react to new arrival Shirley MacLaine? What’s going on with Mary and Matthew? Is Mr. Bates still in jail? Has anyone aged yet? You must know! Ask us if you need assistance playing PAL/region coded DVDs.

STEP UP: REVOLUTION—The predictable plot (save your neighborhood through dance!) doesn’t matter. You’re really only in this for the awesome dance moves. For more on the Step Up phenomenon, we refer you to a student of the franchise: local film critic Vern.

MEN IN BLACK III—Say what you will about unnecessary sequels, but Josh Brolin looks like he’s having an awful amount of fun playing a younger Tommy Lee Jones.  BLU  3D BLU  @
