The Scarecrow Video Podcast Episode 32: Hong Kong Fever and Listener Mail

The Scarecrow Video Podcast returns from a short summer break for our latest episode. Join Paige, Alex, Marc Palm, and host Matt down the street at Dante's to discuss movies and answer real listener mail.

Our podcast is also available on iTunes. We would be extremely grateful if you left us a comment there. NOTE: The episode contains the occasional swear word and therefore may not be suitable for work or all audiences.

We'd love to have more listener mail-centered episodes! Please send your questions, comments, and film-related quandaries to podcast@scarecrow.com.

Listener Devin wants to know what genres we're most and least familiar with. The group admits to a strong bias towards Asian cinema and a blind spot for straightforward comedies.

Indian robot sensation Endhiran. You should really watch the trailer.

Another customer asks if we still have rare Laserdiscs that haven't been put on DVD, things like Song of the South and many of the early Criterions The answer is YES, and we even have Laserdisc players to rent as well. On a side note, Matt explains the sad decay that is laser rot.

The Criterion Laserdisc of Seven, which has so many special features Matt says it's like "film school in a box." Still available for rent!

The What-We've-Been-Watching Round-Up has action (Terminator, God of Cookery), Austen (Sense and Sensibility), ambiguously advertised drama (We Need To Talk About Kevin), food (Jiro Dreams of Sushi, Iron Chef), and some crazy sounding Hong Kong movies, one of which Matt says will "set your brain on fire."
