WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT KEVIN—Lynne Ramsay’s mysterious, shocking, and almost darkly comic adaptation of Lionel Shriver’s novel about Eva (Tilda Swinton) and her increasingly wicked son. Our colleague Matt notes in the May issue of City Arts, “Rather than turn to cheap shocks, Ramsay sticks nearly entirely with Eva’s subjective, miserable POV, letting the viewer question just how much of her son’s (still unquestionable) evil is a projection of her own anger-fueled existence.”  BLU  @

CORIOLANUS—Ralph Fiennes directs and stars as a Roman general whose citizens turn against him in this modern Shakespeare adaptation, with Gerald Bulter, Vanessa Redgrave, Jessica Chastain, and Brian Cox.  BLU @

TRUE BLOOD: SEASON 4—Anna Paquin leads another steamy season of mystery with vampires, necromancers, and werepanthers. Werepanthers?!?  BLU  @

MAN ON A LEDGE—This action/thriller stars Sam Worthington as said man, an ex-cop who escapes from prison and plays a series of innocence-proving games with police while he stands on said ledge. Co-starring off the ledge are Elizabeth Banks, Jaime Bell, Anthony Mackie, and Ed Harris.  BLU  @

GOON—Our colleague Spenser says of this excellent hockey comedy in the May City Arts, “Goon manages to avoid the tedium of sports movie clichés and delivers a brutal blast of well-paced raunch on the rink.” Watch it as you prepare for the Stanley Cup Championship.   BLU  @
