Cinema happenings for the week of April 6: Express Edition!

Our usual cinema round up is short this week, as we're busy gathering up goodies for our booth at  Sakura Con this weekend downtown at the Convention Center. If you'll be attending over the three-day convention, please stop by the Exhibitor's Hall and say hello. We'll have posters and giveaways from YA Entertainment and lots of movies for sale, including the Battle Royale Complete Collection. We might have a few FREE Battle Royale T-shirts, too.

Elsewhere around town...

SIFF Cinema has the French romantic drama FOUR LOVERS, along with continuing favorites THE KID WITH A BIKE and the RAJ KAPOOR series, another weekend of BIG, Richard Linklater's DAZED & CONFUSED on Friday night and a super-awesome SCARFACE Shoot-Along on Tuesday--with free cap guns for all!

Northwest Film Forum has the Seattle premiere of the Turkish mystery ONCE UPON A TIME IN ANATOLIA and a new 35mm print of Otto Preminger's LAURA.

Central Cinema has food, beverages, Elvis in BLUE HAWAII, Steve Martin in THE JERK, JLo and Ice Cube in ANACONDA (shown in glorious HECKLEVISION) on Monday, a Pop Princess Sing-a-Long on Thursday and a wonderful TV dinner with THE MONKEES on Tuesday night. I will go and cry tears into my beer for Mr. Davy Jones.

Our pals at Grand Illusion Cinema have NORTH BY NORTHWEST aka One Of The Greatest Movies Ever aka Something You Should Not Pass Up Seeing In 35mm On A Big Screen. In the Late Night spot, there's the Japanese animated CHOCOLATE UNDERGROUND, all about a group of kids who bootleg chocolate. Go see it after a long day at Sakura Con.

Lastly, several members of the Scarecrow staff recommend you see THE RAID: REDEMPTION at a theater near you.
