Post-snow cinematic activities for the January 20 weekend--short version

Hopefully by now the streets are navigable enough that you can safely leave your house and get out amongst other humans. We're a little pressed for time, so here's a short list of what's going on post-Snowpocalypse. Follow the links for all the dates, showtimes, and movie details:

 

SIFF Cinema starts the Best Documentaries of 2011 series (including PROJECT NIM and the must-see BEING ELMO), Michael Fassbender and Carey Mulligan in SHAME, MISS REPRESENTATION, director Jennifer Siebel Newsom's look at the message the media sends women, the "anti-romance" AMERICANESE, another weekend of E.T., plus continuing runs of TOMBOY, MELANCHOLIA, WAR HORSE, and CAVE OF FORGOTTEN DREAMS (in 3D!)

 

Northwest Film Forum has a meeting of master drummers in A DRUMMER'S DREAM, MY JOY-Sergei Lozitsa’s "challenging and beautiful" story of a Russian truck driver, more screenings of URBANIZED, psychological drama MARROW with director Matt Wilkins in attendance, and the 2012 CHILDREN'S FILM FESTIVAL starts Thursday.

 

Central Cinema has THE PRINCESS BRIDE, STARGATE, Movie Cat Trivia on Tuesday, and Cartoon Happy Hour and the great Cineoke on Thursday.

 

Grand Illusion Cinema has FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST: THE SACRED STAR OF MILOS, another SCI-FI SATRUDAY SECRET MATINEE, and A LONELY PLACE TO DIE in the Late Night spot.

 

Silent Movie Mondays at The Paramount starts up again on the 23rd with TEMPEST starring John Barrymore.
