New Actor's Spotlight: Alberto Sordi & Shabana Azmi

Each month, we at Scarecrow pick two of our favorite actors and gather some of their definitive films in a special rental section. Our actors for late September/early October are:

ALBERTO SORDI  (1920-2003)

The beloved Italian comedic actor appeared in I VITELLONI (1953),  MAFIOSO (1962),  Federico Fellini's THE WHITE SHIEK (1951), and some English speaking roles in films such as THOSE MAGNIFICENT MEN IN THEIR FLYING MACHINES (1965). He was also  the Italian voice of Oliver Hardy in the Laurel & Hardy films.

SHABANA AZMI  (b. 1950)

Azmi received praise early in her career for her performance in the Indian new wave film ANKUR (1977). Her credits include Satyajit Ray's THE CHESS PLAYERS (1977),  MANDI (1983), and Deepa Mehta's FIRE (1996).

You'll find our full roster of selections for these two actors in the Actor's Spotlight on the shelves to the right of the stairs, just before the Second Take section.
