Our favorite "backstage showbiz" movies: a random list

Last week The Seattle Times asked us for a list of our favorite "backstage showbiz" movies, so we taped up a piece of paper on a wall behind the counter and went to work. You can read the highlights over on their website, but here's the full list straight from the randomness of our brainstorming. The first group are the ones featured in The Seattle Times: Singin' In the Rain, All About Eve, Stage Door, The Band Wagon, The Bad and The Beautiful, Twentieth Century, A Prairie Home Companion, Nashville, The Company, The Player, Symbiopsychotaxiplasm, Living in Oblivion And here's the rest: 42nd Street, Day For Night, Contempt, Topsy-Turvy, Fanny and Alexander, A Star is Born, The Last Tycoon, Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, 8 1/2, Sullivan's Travels, Footlight Parade, Sunset Boulevard, Gypsy, Starstruck (1982), All That Jazz, Funny Face, After The Fox, Radio Days, Network, Broadcast News, Wag The Dog, Cradle Will Rock, Boogie Nights, Tristram Shandy: A Cock & Bull Story, Barton Fink, The Last Metro, The Sunshine Boys (1975), Miss Nude America, Unzipped, The Wrestler, Lenny, The Comedian, The Comedians of Comedy, Wilco: I Am Trying To Break Your Heart, Let It Be, Payday (1972), Ladies and Gentlemen: The Fabulous Stains, The Stunt Man, Stunt Rock (1980), Double Dare, Showgirls (!) and Spice World (!!) Plus a couple TV shows for good measure: The Muppet Show, The Larry Sanders Show, Sports Night, Extras, and the ever popular 30 Rock. What do you think? What are we forgetting? singinrain
