Fremont Outdoor Cinema starts this weekend

While we at Scarecrow would never curse the sunshine, summer does present the dilemma of "It's so nice, I should be outside!" and "But no, I want to watch a movie!" Luckily, a Seattle institution returns this weekend to solve our problem: the Fremont Outdoor Cinema. The series kicks off this Saturday, June 20th, with a Mamma Mia sing-along up at Magnuson Park. There's a barrage of Opening Night festivities like a barbecue, a prom-style photo booth (with costumes available to up your glam factor), and an American Idol-style ABBA karaoke contest. We've contributed to the pre-show fanfare with trivia questions to test your knowledge of movie musicals (start looking at the track listings of movie soundtracks, that's all we can say) and fabulous prizes for the victors. The gates open at 7pm and the film starts around 10pm, all for a suggested donation of just $5. FOC will return to their regular neighborhood digs on June 27th with Edward Scissorhands. Then on July 3rd they'll attempt to break the world record for largest zombie gathering, culminating in a screening of Shaun of The Dead (and according to their Twitter feed, if they break the record they'll add Planet Terror to the mix). We can think of no better way to celebrate our freedoms that to parade through the streets of Fremont dressed as zombies. See you there. fremontcinemaimage1
