New to View: A look forward to Fall, a look back at PAX & a Lightning Round

For your late afternoon, pre-weekend viewing pleasure, we present three installments of the MacGuffin Podcast. In the first clip, Spencer & John take a week-by-week peek at what will be in theaters for the rest of 2010. I don't know about you guys, but I am stoked for that owl movie. Note: We have the John Lennon early days biopic Nowhere Boy and the apparently controversial I Love You Philip Morris here on PAL Code 2 DVD. You'll find John's DVD pick of the week Solitary Man in the New Releases, and Spencer's pick Shaun The Sheep: Party Animals in the Family New Releases (there's more Shaun The Sheep action in the Children's Animation section as well). Next, Spencer & MacGuffin writer Benjamin Nason look back at the gaming extravaganza Penny Arcade Expo-aka PAX--aka where Wil Wheaton was Labor Day weekend--with a focus on new movie-based games (Goldeneye!) and movies based on games (Duke Nukem, someday?). Spencer then chats with representatives from Nintendo and Activision, while Benjamin talks TRON with Patrick from Disney. For more on the wonder that was PAX, check out this fine overview at The Atlantic by Sam Machkovech--aka Samurai Crow Finally, Brandi Sperry & yours truly subject ourselves to the MacGuffin Lightning Round--their equivalent of Top Chef's Quickfire Challenge: After we filmed this, I saw Machete. Lohan is BACK! There's more movie musing, including Top 5 segments on romantic comedies and literary adaptations, over on the MacGuffin Film Blog.
