Two SIFF screenings benefit those in need this holiday season

This Tuesday, December 9th, SIFF will be hosting a benefit screening for the local homeless community. Here's the info straight from their headquarters:
SIFF, the Seattle Seahawks, and United Way of King County partner to present a special screening of Where God Left His Shoes. Winner of the Humanitas Prize for Best Sundance Feature Film, Where God Left His Shoes, is the story of a homeless family on Christmas Eve that refuses to break apart during the darkest time of their lives. Screen International describes the film as "Authentically heartwarming. [John] Leguizamo has never been better."
We will be collecting donations of cash, blankets, coats, and canned food for distribution to our local homeless community through the Emergency Response Fund of United Way and Immanuel Community Services Food Bank. SIFF will offer $5 off of admission for those who bring donations.Tickets are $10 ($5 with donation), and may be purchased in advance at, in person at the SIFF Cinema Box Office, or by phone at 206-464-5830.

SIFF will also be collecting donations for the White Center Food Bank at their screening of Singin' In The Rain on Saturday, December 13th at 10am (part of their excellent Films4Families series, they showed the original trailer for Singin' In The Rain before Mary Poppins last Saturday and just that bit gave me happy goose bumps). A donation of cash or canned/non-perishable food gets you in to the movie FOR FREE.

Don't forget that here at the store we're collecting non-perishable food items for Northwest Harvest. Bring your donation up to the counter and we'll give you a 2 for 1 rental coupon, so you can have a little bit of Wednesday any day of the week.
