Oscar Party Roundup!

Oscar Night is almost upon us! What are your plans for Hollywood's most prestigious evening? If you're looking to spend it out amongst your fellow awards show enthusiasts, here's a list of possible destinations. Follow the links for tickets & more information: Our neighbors down the street at DANTE'S are throwing a party starting at 3pm with all the Red Carpet and awards action presented on their screen that's roughly the size of Rhode Island. They'll be prize raffles and giveaways, as well as wine and champagne specials through the night. Watch the show there, then come in to rent the winners! The amazingly awesome organization that offers hands-on filmmaking experience for young women known as REEL GRRLS is having their second annual Oscar Party fundraiser at Central Cinema. The tickets range from $25 to $79 and offer a variety of food and beverage options, with the proceeds going directly to the Reel Grrls programs. Red Carpet attire is strongly encouraged. Down at the beautiful SoDo Park, THREE DOLLAR BILL CINEMA is hosting their fifth annual Academy Awards Party to benefit their work and the Gay City Health Project. For $25 you'll enjoy some tasty hors d'oeuvres and be entered to win some fantastic door prizes; for $40 you'll gain entry to a VIP Champagne & Wine Reception, preferred seating and a gift bag chock full of goodies. THE FILM SCHOOL is having their second annual Oscar Party & Auction downtown at The Triple Door. Tom & Julie Skerritt will host the gala event along with auctioneer John Curley, and catering is provided by the swankily delicious Wild Ginger. Wear your finest outfits, sip a few fancy cocktails and bid high on the fine selection of DVDs from Scarecrow. The proceeds from the auction go to supporting the school's move into their new digs with SIFF. WASHINGTON FILM WORKS, a nonprofit whose mission is to "encourage growth in the film and video production industry for the economic benefit" of our fine state is throwing a party at Belltown's Spitfire. Fill out this OSCAR BALLOT and bring it with you to the festivities. The $10 cover goes into a pool and the winner gets to donate the money to a local nonprofit film organization of his or her choice. There are also door prizes for the winning, including signed Sounders & Seahawks merch, passes to SIFF's 12-hour Movie Marathon and much more. If you're hosting your own party, the Internet is awash with ideas to help you plan appropriately themed meals/drinking games. Cinematical has some excellent recommendations (especially the strudel!), or you can go straight to the experts at Oscars.org. My only plan is to have some Sofia ready to hopefully toast Kathryn Bigelow's win. If you find yourself without a TV, follow The Carpetbagger or Awards Daily on Twitter (or download Vanity Fair's Hollywood iPhone app) for what I'm sure will be instant results. Whatever or whatever you do, make sure you're tuned into ABC (or someone who's tuned into ABC) at 5pm on Sunday when the speculation ends and the spectacle begins.
