October happenings

  • The 4th Annual Independent South Asian Film Festival starts Wednesday, October 3rd and runs through the 7th at the Broadway Performance Hall, featuring films from India, Bhutan, Nepal, Afghanistan, Maldives and more, along with workshops and filmmaker discussions. For the schedule and all the details, click here. We've also got a special rental section to go along with the fest---it's right next to New To Store by the front counter.
  • Tickets are on sale now for the 2007 Seattle Lesbian and Gay Film Festival, which runs October 12-21st. You can check out the full schedule here or come into Scarecrow and pick one up. A quick flip through the catalog reveals such highlights as Opening Night film The Walker (written and directed by Taxi Driver scribe Paul Schrader and starring Woody Harrelson, Lily Tomlin and the wonderful Lauren Bacall), a whole special series called Gay TV Dinners at Central Cinema featuring gay-themed episodes of TV shows from the 70s, and a Xanadu Sing Along at the Cinerama.
  • Our Halloween Staff Picks are up so can check out what scares the crap out of us. Look for the glaring red sign featuring the 10 levels of Hell. There's also a Kids Halloween section for the young and young at heart. While you peruse the Kids Halloween section, be sure to take a picture to color (they're in an envelope hanging on the side of section, by the stairs). Bring it back and we'll give you a FREE rental from the KIDS section!
  • Stay tuned to this blog and the Scarecrow website for details on an upcoming USED SALE! There's a lot of quality stuff ready to go out on the shelves, so you'll definitely want to be the first to know when it's all going down.
That's all for now. Stay dry, watch movies...
