New Releases for the new month of December

We enter the home stretch of 2009 with these fine New Releases (a * means we also have it on Blu-ray). TERMINATOR: SALVATION * - Christian Bale is John Connor in McG's take on the Terminator franchise. A CHRISTMAS TALE * - Catherine Deneuve stars as the ailing matriarch of a chaotic family in this holiday story from Criterion. And speaking of French film from Criterion, have you checked out our BIG SALE ON FRENCH FILM? PAPER HEART - A mockumentary of sorts in which comedian Charlyne Yi (who you may remember from Knocked Up) goes on a road trip to learn all about love, and ends up falling for Michael Cera (can you blame her?) NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM: BATTLE OF THE SMITHSONIAN * - Ben Stiller returns as the museum security guard for whom exhibits come alive. With a script by The State members Robert Ben Garant and Thomas Lennon and a cast that includes Ricky Gervais, Amy Adams, Bill Hader (as General Custer!) and the reunion of Steve Coogan & Owen Wilson, this is a strong candidate for 'Movie I Can Watch With Every Member of My Family Without Being Bored.' STINGRAY SAM - Several staffers saw this new film from American Astronaut's Cory McAbee at the Northwest Film Forum a while back and highly recommended it. COMMAND PERFORMANCE *--Two words: Dolph Lundgren. Read what Outlaw Vern had to say over on his site. CARTOONIST: JEFF SMITH, BONE AND THE CHANGING FACE OF COMICS - PALE FORCE - Jim Gaffigan and Conan O'Brien are a pasty crime fighting duo in these shorts originally shown on Late Night, animated by New Yorker cartoonist Paul Noth. SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE: SEASON FIVE - The last season for the remaining original Not Ready For Primetime Players features hosts such as Steve Martin, Bea Arthur, Burt Reynolds and Martin Sheen along with musical performances by Bob Dylan, The B-52s, Marianne Faithful, Blondie and Paul McCartney. Babe (1975) - Made for TV biopic about Olympic track-field star turned golf champion Mildred 'Babe' Didrikson. It was on this film that Susan Clark (who plays the title character) and Alex Karras met, fell in love, got married, and then went on to star together in Webster. Because You're Mine (1952) - A musical starring Mario Lanza Betty Ford Story (1987) - Made for TV movie starring Gena Rowlands as the former first lady. Look for The West Wing's Bradley Whitford as one of the Ford sons. Gun Glory (1957) - A gunslinger defends his town from evil ranchers in this western starring Stewart Granger Mayday at 40,000 Feet! (1976) - Disaster ensues when a killer runs rampant onboard an airplane.
