New to View: MacGuffin vs. The Other Guys…IN 3D

Ok, it’s not really in 3D.  In this episode of the MacGuffin Podcast, Spencer and John discuss the history of 3-Dequal factor–the third movie in a series being in three dimension just for the heck of it (Friday The 13th, Jaws, Final Destination, etc).  It’s all in anticipation of this week’s  release of STEP UP …

New to View: Inception & Dinner for Schmucks

Greetings, everyone and Happy Birthday to Mr. Christopher Nolan. New to View: The MacGuffin Podcast on Christopher Nolan

It’s always hard to come in to work at Scarecrow the day after the opening of a big new movie. Having not seen Inception yet, I’ve been purposefully avoiding my co-workers who went and saw it at midnight. But if I can guess from their seemingly intense hubub, it’s pretty amazing. To gear up …

For you informed viewing pleasure, here’s local film critic/Parallax View contributor/former Crow Sean Axmaker on some of the best new DVDs in our collection.
Chicago (1927) (Flicker Alley)
This is the first screen incarnation of the story of jazz baby murderess Roxie Hart, first created in a play by former crime reporter Maurine Watkins that hit Broadway …
