This weekend, SIFF Cinema re-opens Queen Anne's historic Uptown Theater with an incredible line-up of movies. The festivities begin Thursday with three SING-A-LONGs, presented as part of CITY ARTS FESTIVAL:
Thursday, October 20: HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH
Friday, October 21: PURPLE RAIN
Saturday, October 22: GREASE

"Purple Rain. Puurrrrple Rain."
On Sunday, SIFF opens the floodgates of cinema goodness with the UPTOWN CINEMA CLASSICS series. Over the week they'll be showing 10 films that have previously graced the theater's screens during its 85-year history. This list is a fine sampling of essential films:
TWENTIETH CENTURY
CITIZEN KANE
SINGIN' IN THE RAIN
WEST SIDE STORY
THE GODFATHER
MONTY PYTHON AND THE HOLY GRAIL
ANNIE HALL
PEE-WEE'S BIG ADVENTURE
L.A. CONFIDENTIAL
THE ROYAL TENENBAUMS

All these films are also great to see on a big screen with an enthusiastic crowd. Visit SIFF's site for all the showtimes & movie information.
All of the Uptown Cinema Classics screenings are just $5, or FREE, that's right, FREE when you bring in a SAME DAY receipt from any Queen Anne area business. We recommend you head around the corner from the theater to Easy Street Records and/or Mercer Street Books.
