Oscar Party Round Up

Yikes! We're days away from the 83rd ACADEMY AWARDS, which airs  Sunday, February 27th, starting around 5pm PST. I must admit that I've been slacking in my role as Chief Award Show Nerd here at Scarecrow.  I still have to catch up on a few of the nominees, including two of the Best Picture picks (Damn you Academy for going to 10!) In addition to furiously cramming movies into my skull this weekend, I'll also be planning how to spend the big day. Here are a few of the places where you can watch the proceedings with fellow Oscar fans: --- Our neighbors at DANTE'S will have all the action up on their theater sized screen with HD quality and Mackie sound. They'll have all the Red Carpet coverage before the big show itself, plus prizes (maybe some free rentals from Scarecrow?) and $3 drink specials all night long. When it's over you can come by and rent THE SOCIAL NETWORK and ask us when THE KING'S SPEECH will be out on DVD (April 19th!). --- Three Dollar Bill Cinema's  6TH ANNUAL ACADEMY AWARDS PARTY is at the swankily refurbished Cinerama.  The $25 ticket gets you in to see the show on the big screen, free popcorn & soda,  plus hors d'oeuvres and the chance to win fabulous raffle prizes throughout the night. A $50 VIP ticket (sorry kids, 21 & up) gets you all of the above plus early admission with a Champagne reception, reserved seating, coat check & more. All the proceeds go to Three Dollar Bill Cinema & Gay City Health Project. Fancy Red Carpet attire is encouraged. ---WASHINGTON FILM WORKS is hosting their 3rd Annual Oscar Benefit Party at Spitfire in Belltown.  The $10 cover charge gets you entered in to the Oscar pool, and the winner will be able to donate the proceeds to the Washington State film arts organization of their choice.  Fancy Red Carpet attire is also encouraged here. ---CENTRAL CINEMA will have the big show up on their big screen, along with Oscar trivia and "luscious" food and drink specials.  It's free with a purchase of a $10 food/beverage voucher. ---HOTEL 1000 is hosting AN EVENING WITH THE STARS. For $75, you'll gain access to a swanky party with appetizers, drink specials, swag bags, Red Carpet photos & more. Net proceeds from the evening's festivities go to our friends at REEL GRRLS. ---Over on the Eastside, Lincoln Square Cinemas invites you to WALK THE RED CARPET FOR SEATTLE CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL.  They'll be Red Carpet arrival festivities and a silent auction; plus you can enjoy fine wines hors d’oeuvres provided by The Parlor Collection while you watch the show.  The $50 ticket price all goes to Seattle Children's Hospital. ---If you're hosting your own party or attending festivities where fellow guests don't mind that your eyes are glued to a laptop or smart phone, Oscar enthusiasts David Schmader and Lindy West will be LiveSLOGging over at The Stranger.
